I miss my dark, moody U2

I’m not one of those crazy rabid U2 fans - although I might have been, if all their albums sounded like Achtung Baby. Back in 1991 they were still referred to in print as “Irish rock band U2” and Bono quite possibly hadn’t been to Africa yet. For this one album, they were sort of brooding and Euro and wrote lyrics like “A man will beg/ A man will crawl/ On the sheer face of love/ Like a fly on a wall”. Now they’re all happy and life-affirming, which is alright, I suppose. But I’ll never like it as much as the End of the World.
